Boston's Kenmore neighborhood was not always the hopping center of nightlife that it is today. Now Landsdowne Street is where you go to enjoy the dance clubs and casual bars. But back in the 1880s the Kenmore neighborhood was not nearly as developed as the rest of the city of Boston.

This Boston neighborhood that was once part of Colonial Boston in 1705, was not fully connected to the main city of Boston, until the 1890s. No longer on the outskirts of the action, the Kenmore neighborhood in Boston is home to Fenway Park, which is where the Red Sox play.

The first Kenmore apartments were erected in 1915 and were later turned into a hotel. Today's Kenmore apartments share the area with some of Boston's most renowned art museums, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum. Near Fenway Park, residents can play softball or Frisbee at the Back Bay Fens, the local park. More athletes can be found when Boston Marathon runners take their stretch run in Kenmore Square, annually.

Colleges and college nightlife heat up Kenmore. Home to Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston University, Simmons College, Emmanuel College, Wheelock College and Northeastern University, the area boasts a diverse and educated population. Boutiques and stores cater to college students and locals living in Kenmore apartments, and sell sports memorabilia, books and comic books.
